Description
No. 45 High Street is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the late 19th century. It is constructed from coursed squared ironstone banded with limestone and features a slate roof, along with brick stacks at the ends and ridge. The house has a three-unit plan and is two stories high with a four-window range.
The entrance is a 20th-century part-glazed door located to the left of the center, which is topped by a stop-chamfered wood lintel and is sheltered by a 20th-century porch. To the left of the door is a two-light casement window with a wood lintel, and a small one-light window to the far left that has a chamfered stone surround. The ground floor also includes three-light casement windows in the center and to the right, the latter of which retains old catches. On the first floor, there are two-light casements with wood lintels.
The left gable end features a two-light ovolo-moulded stone mullion window on the first floor and a one-light window in the attic with a chamfered stone surround. Inside, the house has chamfered spine beams and an open fireplace with a chamfered bressumer.
