Description
No. 25 Sutton Street is a cottage dating from the 18th century. It is constructed of ironstone and cob, with a whitewashed finish and a thatched roof, featuring brick stacks at the ends and along the ridge. The building has a three-unit plan and is two stories high with a three-window range.
The entrance is a part-glazed 19th-century door located to the right of the center, which is framed by three-light leaded casement windows with horizontal sliding hinges, and there is another three-light leaded casement window to the far left. On the first floor, there are two three-light leaded casement windows set in eyebrow dormers to the left of the center. The right gable has a stone coping with kneelers. The left gable end features a part-glazed back door and a three-light casement window on the ground floor, both with timber lintels, and a two-light casement window on the first floor within a brick gable.
At the rear left, there is a wing that was raised in the 19th century and has a slate roof. Inside, the cottage includes chamfered spine beams and an open fireplace with a stop-chamfered bressumer. The roof structure features curved principals.
