Description

The Old Bakehouse comprises a pair of 18th-century cottages situated on the north side of Flore Green. The cottages are constructed of coursed squared ironstone with limestone detailing, and have a corrugated asbestos roof. Stone end and ridge stacks are present. The building is two storeys high with a three-window facade. Number 11, on the left, features a 20th-century plank door flanked by three-light leaded casement windows, and a similar two-light first-floor window, all with timber lintels. Number 13, to the right, has 20th-century French windows on the ground floor and a three-light 20th-century casement window on the first floor. A 20th-century porch is located on the right side. Quoins are visible, and the gables are coped with stone and kneelers. The interior includes chamfered spine beams. In Number 11, there is a four-centered arched stone fireplace and an open fireplace with a chamfered bressumer. The building was formerly thatched.
