Description

No. 7 The Green is a house dated 1690, constructed from coursed squared ironstone with a pantile roof that has replaced the original thatch. It features brick end stacks and has a two-unit plan, standing two storeys high with an attic and a two-window range. The central entrance consists of a four-panel door topped with a semi-circular metal hood supported by wrought iron brackets. On either side of the door, there are two-light casement windows on both the ground and first floors. The first-floor windows are metal casements with small leaded frames and some crown glass, and all windows have timber lintels. Above the door, there is a datestone inscribed with F/NA/1690, along with a County Fire Insurance plaque. To the left, there is a small cellar window with an old timber lintel. A 19th-century kitchen range is located to the right of the forecourt, which is partially attached to the right end of the house and has been extensively remodeled in the 20th century.

Inside, the house features ogee-stop-chamfered spine beams and an open fireplace with a chamfered bressumer. A four-centred arched stone fireplace has been removed from the house in Broughton. In the upper room, there is a corner stone fireplace with a moulded surround and a lintel inscribed with WM on either side of a heart. The house also includes a winder stair.
