Description
Flore Manor is a house dated 1684, constructed from coursed squared ironstone with a thatch roof and brick end and ridge stacks on stone bases. Originally designed in an L-plan, it has been altered to a T-plan. The building has two storeys and an attic, featuring a five-window range. A six-panel part-glazed door with an overlight is located in a 19th-century stone porch to the right of the center. To the right of the door are two renewed 2-light ovolo stone mullion and transom windows with hood moulds on the ground floor, and a similar window above the door and in the gable over the entrance bay on the first floor. To the left of the door, there are similar 3-light windows on the ground floor, except for a one-light window with only a transom at the far left, and 2-light stone mullion windows on the first floor. The house features a chamfered plinth, quoins, a moulded string to the older part on the right, and a stone-coped gable to the right with kneelers. A projecting wing at the rear of the entrance bay has similar stone mullion windows and a stack with a datestone incorporated in one flue, inscribed M/WS/1684. Inside, the property includes ogee-stop-chamfered spine beams, a dog-leg staircase with barley sugar balusters, and a moulded stone corner fireplace.
