Description
The Hollies is a house dated 1679, constructed from coursed squared ironstone with slate roofs and brick end stacks. It has an L-plan layout, two storeys and an attic, featuring a two-window range. The main front faces the garden and includes a central six-panel door with an overlight and a timber lintel set in a gabled porch. This is flanked by three-light casement windows with stop-chamfered lintels; the window on the right is at a higher level and is above a part-blocked three-light chamfered stone mullion casement window. There is also a small blocked window to the far left. On the first floor, there is a three-light casement window to the left with a stop-chamfered timber lintel and a small two-light casement window with a timber lintel above the door. The building features quoins, brick nogged eaves, and stone-coped gables with kneelers. The right gable has a datestone inscribed with IH/1679. The rear right wing contains various two- and three-light leaded casements with timber lintels. Inside, the house has stop-chamfered spine beams, an open fireplace with a chamfered bressumer, and old plank doors.
