Description
A pair of cottages located on High Street, Bugbrooke, built around 1800 and altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. The cottages are constructed of red brick in a Flemish garden wall bond pattern, with a ridged tile roof and brick end and ridge stacks. The design features a three-unit plan, with two storeys and an attic, and a three-window facade. A plank door is set within a pegged wood surround to the right of a central two-light casement window, and a similar door is positioned to the left. The ground floor features three-light casement windows to the left and right, while the first floor has two-light casement windows, those to the centre and left incorporating small leaded panes. All windows and doors have segmental arched heads. Stone-coped gables with kneelers are present. A two-storey lean-to extension adjoins the left side of the building. The rear wall is constructed of coursed ironstone and limestone rubble. Inside, stop-chamfered spine beams are visible. The cottages are included in the listing for their contribution to the group value of the surrounding buildings.
