Description
Nos. 2 and 4 Main Ridge are a pair of houses that have been converted into offices. They were built in the early 19th century and have undergone some alterations in the 20th century. The houses are made of red brick and feature a hipped slate roof with two wall stacks and overhanging eaves supported by paired brackets.
The exterior is two stories high and has a four-bay front. Each house has a doorway on the left side, which features a six-panel door with a traceried overlight, panelled reveals, narrow colonettes, a frieze, and a dentilled pediment. The doorway surround on the left is from the 19th century, while the one on the right is a 20th-century copy. To the right of each doorway, there are two pairs of 20th-century glazing bar sash windows on each floor, topped with cambered rubbed brick arches.
On the return side, there is a six-panel door with a traceried overlight and a smaller pedimented door surround, which includes moulded pilasters and brackets. At the rear, there is a single-storey range that features glazing bar sash windows with cambered heads. The interior has not been inspected.
