Description
5 and 6 Pump Square are a pair of houses, now used as offices, dating from the late 18th century, with an attached earlier 18th-century range to the left. They are constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, featuring a hipped pantile roof and a gable plain tile roof, along with single ridge and wall stacks. The building has one stone-coped gable and a moulded eaves fascia.
The exterior consists of three storeys with a five-bay front arranged in a 1:2:2 pattern, where the left-hand bay is the earlier 18th-century gabled section. Number 5 has a half-glazed 19th-century door with a plain overlight, while number 6 features a six-panel door with a latticed overlight. Both doors are framed by dentilled pedimented doorcases with attached half-round columns and a fluted frieze.
In the centre, between the doors, is a plain sash window for number 5 and a 20th-century top-hung window for number 6. To the left, there is a three-light plain sash window. The first floor has four glazing bar sashes and a three-light glazing bar sash. On the second floor, there are two glazing bar sashes to the right, two late 19th-century two-light casements in the centre bays, and four-light casements to the left. The four-bay openings to the right have cambered heads and splayed stucco lintels, while the left-hand bay features rusticated stucco lintels with triple keystones. The interior has not been inspected.
