Ivy Lodge, Duns Road, Coldstream

Ivy Lodge is a cottage located on Duns Road in Coldstream, dated 1876 with later additions. It is a single-storey building with an attic, constructed of brick featuring ashlar lintels and cills. The south front is symmetrical, showcasing a projecting gableted porch that is decorated with bargeboards and a finial. A shield displaying the date is set within the gablet. On either side of the porch are sash windows, with two upper windows that are raised through the eaves, also gabletted and adorned with bargeboards and finials. All windows have lying-pane glazing. The roof is piended, covered with slate, and has wide eaves along with a small triangular lucarne at the center. The slates on the gablets of the dormer and porch are patterned. Brick stacks with concave shoulders are located on the sides, and there is a northeast brick corner stack topped with an ashlar cornice. There are symmetrical one-window extensions on either side, each with lean-to slate roofs. The side wall of the west extension is constructed of rubble, which connects to the boundary wall.
