Manse, Duns Road, Coldstream

The Manse on Duns Road in Coldstream is a two-storey L-plan house built around 1860. It features a symmetrical three-bay front made of snecked rubble with ashlar dressings, wide angle strips, and a base course.

The entrance is highlighted by a pilastered and corniced doorpiece with a blocking course above. The ground floor and first floor each have corniced bipartite windows and 8-pane sash windows, all with bracketed cill-courses. The eaves cornice has a blocking course above, raised at the corners and center. The north elevation also has three bays with 8-pane sashes that are similarly detailed. The south elevation has a bay that is brought forward towards the rear and features one sash window on each floor, also with similar detailing. The rear elevation is constructed of rubble with ashlar dressings, and the wall encloses a re-entrant angle. The house has piended slate roofs with corniced wallhead stacks, where the lower part is ashlar and the upper part is modern brick.
