Hope Park, Duns Road, Coldstream

Hope Park is an earlier 19th century house located on Duns Road in Coldstream. The garden front features a two-storey structure with an attic, consisting of three bays, a central projection, and single-storey wings on either side. The exterior is rendered and lined to resemble ashlar stone. It has wide panelled angle pilasters and a panelled door that is framed by Tuscan columns and pilasters, all supporting a cornice that is recessed under a shallow segmental arch. The ground floor has tripartite windows set within similar arches, while the first floor has two sash windows flanking a central tripartite window. The glazing throughout is in two panes. The house has an eaves cornice and a blocking course, topped with a slate roof featuring straight skews and end stacks.

The wings each contain one tripartite window and have piended slate roofs, with the right wing also featuring an eaves blocking course. The rear elevation is constructed of rubble and includes a projecting staircase turret with a round-headed window and a piended slate roof. Inside, the reception rooms retain moulded cornices and roses, with fireplaces from the 1870s and a cast iron balustrade on the hall staircase. A stained glass stair window is dated 1874.
