Description
59 High Street in Coldstream is a three-storey shop and house, originally built in the early 19th century and refaced around 1900 in the Arts and Crafts style. The building features polished ashlar stonework and is divided into a wide gabled left bay and a narrow right bay by three buttresses topped with finials.
The ground floor has a wide bay that contains a timber arcaded shopfront, which is complemented by blue glazed brick stall risers topped with a white marble display slab that extends from the interior. To the right of the shopfront is the entrance to the house. Above the ground floor, there is a continuous moulded frieze and cornice. The upper windows have splayed cills, with a tripartite window on the first floor to the left and a corniced window on the second floor to the left.
The moulded eaves band rises to a sharp gable that has one step over the wide bay. The roof is covered with slate and features straight skews and brick end stacks.
