Description
Acton Lodge is a cottage located in Acton Burnell, dating from the late 17th century, with remodelling from the mid-19th century and a 20th-century addition. The building features a rendered timber frame with rendered brick alterations and additions, topped by a plain tile roof. It has a baffle-entry plan with two framed bays positioned at right angles to the road. The cottage is one storey high with an attic. The south elevation displays plain barge boards with pendant finials and a gabled eaves dormer that includes a two-light leaded casement. A central brick ridge stack is situated above the door. The concealed framing consists of square panels with long straight tension braces. The south front has two 19th-century two-light wooden framed metal casements flanking a central 20th-century six-panelled door, which is sheltered by a 19th-century gabled timber porch featuring chamfered posts, curved braces, a pendant finial, and a boarded tympanum. The gable end facing the road has a three-light casement on each floor. At the rear, there is a 20th-century gabled addition. Inside, the framing is exposed.
