Description

The Corner House is a late 17th-century house, with alterations made in the early 19th century and later additions and remodelling in the mid- to late 19th century. It is timber-framed, with rendered timber frame and rendered masonry additions, and has a plain tile roof. The original structure comprises two framed bays, with later extensions to the rear. The house is one storey and has an attic. It features two gabled dormers with 19th-century sixteen-pane sash windows and bargeboards with pendant finials. There are external brick end stacks, an integral brick end stack to the left of the rear parallel range, and an integral brick end stack to a wing at the rear. The timber frame is concealed behind square panels with long straight tension braces. The front of the house has two windows, with glazing bar sashes and horns. A central half-glazed panelled door is set within an early 19th-century panelled surround and a porch with square columns and frieze. The interior retains exposed timber-framed walls. The house occupies a prominent position at the crossroads in the village centre.
