Description
The Warren is a house located in Acton Burnell, dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century, with remodelling and additions from the mid to late 19th century. It is constructed of painted brick, featuring late 19th-century planted timbers at the front and grey sandstone rubble additions at the rear. The house has plain tile roofs, with a two-span design on the left side.
The building is two storeys high and has a planted square panel framing with straight tension and angle braces, along with a central quatrefoil band. There are partly rendered external brick end stacks, as well as ridge and integral gable end stacks on the rear additions. The facade consists of three bays, with glazing bar sash windows that are horned on the first floor, and a central two-light casement window on the first floor. The entrance features a central half-glazed door and a late 19th-century gabled glazed porch that includes a six-panelled door, with the top four panels being glazed.
At the rear, there is a one-storey addition that has an integral brick end stack. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included for its group value.
