Description
Hope Villa is a house dating from the late 18th to early 19th century. It is constructed of brick, with stone rubble on the right side and rear. The roof is hipped and covered with slate, while the gabled rear range has plain tiles. There are two brick end stacks on each side, with the rear stacks featuring a pair of diagonal shafts.
The exterior includes a three-storey front range and a two-storey rear extension. The front has three windows arranged in a three-storey layout, featuring 6/6 sash windows on the ground and first floors, and 3/3 sashes on the second floor, all with brick segmental arches. The central doorway is plain, with panelled reveals and a pair of 20th-century glazed doors topped by a light, protected by a later projecting gabled trellis porch.
At the rear, there is a mid-19th century extension that projects from the stone wall of the front range, featuring three gables and four windows. The windows are two-light casements with brick segmental arches and metal perimeter glazing bars, along with two 20th-century replacement casements on the ground floor. A central brick projecting gable at the first floor is supported on brick piers above a boarded back door with a glazed panel. The interior has not been inspected.
