Description
Canada House is a house that likely dates from the late 18th century, with alterations and additions made in the mid-19th century and mid-20th century. It is constructed of painted brick and features a plain tiled roof with external brick stacks at both gable ends. The house has two storeys and an attic, characterized by a dentilled eaves cornice.
The main section has two bays, with two glazing bar sash windows on both the ground and first floors, each adorned with moulded architraves and cambered heads. The entrance is located on the right side and consists of a six-panelled door, where the top two panels are glazed and the central panels are raised and fielded. This door is framed by a moulded architrave and pediment and is set within a 20th-century gabled timber porch on a brick base. The single bay section to the right is lower in height and features a ground and first floor three-light casement, both with cambered heads. There are also attic lights in the gable ends. The left side external stack displays a Norwich Union fire insurance mark. The house is included for its group value.
