Description
3, 4, and 5 Park Cottages is a terrace of three houses built in the mid-19th century. The cottages are timber-framed with painted brick infill and feature a plain tiled roof that is banded with fishscale tiles. They have external gable end brick chimneys with offsets and three star-shaped shafts, as well as two rear external chimneys with paired brick shafts. The buildings are single storey with an attic that includes dormers. The facade consists of two outer bays and a central bay, which is gabled and features a finial. This central bay is also jettied and supported on corner posts.
The framing displays a decorative arrangement of large, braced rectangular panels on the front outer bays, while the central front bay and gable ends have small rectangular panels. The gable end features collar-and-tie-beam trusses with queen struts and a V-strut in the apex. The central front gable has a tie-beam truss with queen struts.
The front elevation is symmetrically designed. The outer bays each have a three-light and a two-light casement that project slightly on shaped brackets with tiled weatherings. Above these are two gabled dormers with finials and two-light casements. The central bay contains a ledged and battened door flanked by two-light casements, with a three-light casement in the gable above. Each gable end has a gabled timber-framed and balustered porch with a ledged and battened door and an attic light.
The interior has not been inspected. There is a mid-20th century outshut at the rear. The cottages are included for their group value.
