Description

Yetholm Hall is an early 19th-century, two-storey villa with a basement at the rear, designed in a symmetrical T-plan. The building is constructed from whinstone rubble, featuring ashlar sandstone dressings, particularly on the south elevation. It has a base course, a cill course at the first floor, an eaves cornice, and a blocking course. The central bay is flanked by giant pilasters, and there are pilastered quoins, as well as long and short quoins on the sides and rear.

On the south elevation, steps lead up to an architraved doorway located in the advanced central bay, which has a bracketed cornice above. The doorway features a boarded door and a three-pane fanlight. There is a single window on the first floor and a blank stone tablet above the blocking course. The first and third bays each contain a single window.

The north elevation, which is the rear, has three bays with an advanced central block that forms part of the boundary wall. It includes one window on the first floor and two windows at ground level, along with one window on the first floor to the left return and one window at ground level to the right return. The outer left and right bays each have windows on both the ground and first floors.

Both the east and west elevations feature a single window at ground level. The villa is fitted with 12-pane sash and case windows and has a grey slate piend and platform roof, with two ridge stacks that have five polygonal flues each and moulded octagonal cans. The interior was not seen in 1991. The boundary walls are high, made of coped whinstone rubble, with remnants of harling facing the street. There is a pedestrian gateway and low quadrant walls leading to the drive.
