Description

Victoria Place is an earlier 19th-century, two-storey villa with a rectangular plan, located on Friars Brae in Linlithgow. The building is constructed of cream squared and stugged sandstone rubble, with coursed stone on the north (entrance) and west elevations, and features droved ashlar margins, base, and eaves courses.

On the north elevation, which serves as the entrance, the main house consists of three bays on the right, with a service bay to the left. The central entrance features a fanlit door topped with a bracketed block cornice, flanked by windows. The first floor has hoodmoulded windows in each bay. The service bay is slightly recessed and has small windows on both the ground and first floors, with corbelled eaves.

The west side elevation includes a hoodmoulded window at the first floor, which has a bracketed cill. The south rear elevation features a central stair window, with a modern window above and to the right on the ground floor, along with a window at the first floor. There are bull blocks at the first floor to the right.

The villa has twelve-pane sash and case windows, a grey slate roof with ashlar coped skews, and sandstone stacks at the gables and off-centre to the left.

The property is enclosed by a tall rubble boundary wall with semi-circular coping, which curves to the southwest.
