Description
2 Royal Terrace in Linlithgow is a later 19th-century single-storey cottage with an attic, featuring three bays. The building is constructed from cream sandstone rubble, which is bull-faced squared and snecked on the north elevation, with ashlar dressings. It has base and eaves courses, stop-chamfered reveals with roll-moulding, raised quoins, and keystones above the round-headed windows. The gables are crow-stepped and finialled.
On the north (entrance) elevation, there is a round-headed doorpiece at the center, which includes impost blocks and a fanlit six-panelled door. Above this is a gabled wallhead dormer with a narrow round-headed window. To the left, there is a taller gabled bay that features a canted window at ground level with a stone roof and a round-headed window above it. To the right, a bipartite round-headed window is present, with a canted timber and slate-hung dormer above it. The central light has a basket-arch window with keystones and a cornice with a pediment.
The windows are a mix of plate glass and four-pane sash and case styles. The roof is covered with grey slate and has an M-gabled design, complemented by sandstone corniced stacks.
