Description
Drainie Old Manse in Kinneddar is a 2-storey, asymmetrical 3-bay house designed by A and W Reid in 1853, with additions made by the same architects in 1877. The house is harled with painted stone margins and features projecting west bays that include a canted window on the ground floor, a square porch at the re-entrant angle, and a tripartite window in the ground floor east bay. It has 8-pane glazing, a stair window at the rear, deep corniced stacks, and bracketed eaves, topped with a piended slate roof.
A single-storey drying room, now used as a garage, was added to the west in 1877, along with further alterations to the rear of the building. The property is also marked by a pair of square ashlar gatepiers with moulded pyramidal caps and quadrants, as well as a high coped rubble garden wall.
