Description
Captain's House Steading, built in 1853 by A and W Reid, is a symmetrical U-plan steading and gighouse. The structure is made of rubble with tooled dressing and painted margins. At the center, there is a 2-bay clock with two segmental-headed cart bays, one of which is a gighouse checked for doors, with two granary vents located above. To the west is a 3-bay stable, and to the east is a 3-bay byre featuring a piended loft dormer. The rear of the building has a U-plan court, and the roof is covered with slate.
