Description

The Old Manse of Marnoch is a two-storey, three-bay manse built in 1805, with additions and alterations made by A and W Reid of Elgin in 1867. It features an attic and a raised basement, along with a one-bay addition to the east that extends into a rear wing to the north, also designed by A and W Reid. The building is constructed from squared and coursed sandstone rubble with galleting and stugged ashlar dressings, showcasing stone mullions in the bipartite windows.

On the southeast elevation, there are stone steps leading to the principal floor doorway, which has been enlarged to a tripartite design with small-pane glazing in the lights and a fanlight above. The inner door is half-border-glazed and features a margined strip fanlight. Flanking the doorway are later bipartite windows, with three additional windows located at the first floor. The later wing to the right has a bipartite window on each floor.

The west elevation includes a window at the first floor and a small window in the attic, while the rear displays irregular fenestration with two doorways leading to the basement and a piended dormer in the attic. The windows throughout the building are sash and case style, with a 12-pane glazing pattern, and the bipartites have an 8-pane configuration.

The roof is covered with grey slates, while the later wing features purple slates. The building has ashlar-coped skews with moulded skewputts and coped stacks topped with decorative cans.

There are three single-storey, gabled outbuildings to the west, which form a courtyard, along with a piend-roofed store situated in the center. The garden walls are constructed from rubble and topped with ashlar coping.
