Description

Circa 1890. 2-storey 6-bay Italianate double villa with basement to rear. Variegated sandstone, stugged ashlar front and rear with polished dressings, squared and snecked stugged rubble to sides. String course above ground floor; moulded cill course at 1st floor; ashlar mullions; overhanging eaves, exposed rafters and brackets.

SE (FRONT) ELEVATION: elevations mirrored about centre; 2 advanced gabled bays to outer right and left (finialled) with bipartite and single windows. Lean-to porch in re-entrant angle to centre bays with carved, timber column and small-pane glazed dividing screen, plain doorways with 2-leaf-panelled doors; windows above at 1st floor.

NE ELEVATION: gabled with bipartite window at 1st floor (stained glass glazing).

SW ELEVATION: as above.

NW (REAR) ELEVATION: 4-bay; 3-storey canted windows (basement revealed on falling ground) with finialled piended roofs to outer bays; bipartite windows to centre bays. Timber sash and case windows with plate glass glazing. Green slate roof; corniced wallhead stacks to SW and NE.

INTERIOR: not seen 1993.

BOUNDARY WALLS AND GATEPIERS: low rubble wall with saddleback coping and later railings to front, taller wall with semi-circular coping to sides, 4 corniced ashlar gatepiers with arched caps.
