Description

Circa 1900. Single storey asymmetrical Arts and Crafts villa, 2-storey to rear on falling ground. White harl with red sandstone dressings. Red brick base course and band cill course at 1st floor to rear; ashlar mullions with rounded arrises; sloping cills; overhanging eaves with exposed rafters; plain bargeboards to gables.

S (FRONT) ELEVATION: 3-bay. Advanced canted bay to left with bipartite windows to each side, tall wallhead stack on right return. Basket-arched doorway to centre bay accessed by steps with stylised Gibbsian (roll-moulded and banded) surround and tall tripartite window with decorative stained glass flanking to right. To right bay sunk flat-roofed garage, small single and bipartite window above.

W ELEVATION: 2-storey canted projection of inglenook fireplace to left, small stained glass windows to outer sides, tall wallhead stack.

E ELEVATION: advanced gable with window to gablehead, corbelled corner above ground floor to outer right; small projection with catslide roof in re-entrant angle to left.

N (REAR) ELEVATION: 3-bay. Gabled bay to left with tile-hung gablehead, rectangular projection with bipartite window, secondary door on return and piended roof at ground floor, tripartite above. Canted bays with tripartite windows at ground and 1st floor. Bay to right with 2-storey canted window, bipartites to front, ashlar panel with blank armorial shield to gablehead, piended roof.

Timber sash and case windows, 6-pane upper sashes, plate glass glazing to lower sashes. Green slate roof with red ridge tiles; stacks with ashlar cornices, 2 wallhead stacks (see above), central stack. Moulded eaves gutter.

INTERIOR: not seen 1993.
