Moorlea, Moorfield Road, Gourock

Moorlea is a cottage built in the later part of the 19th century, located on Moorfield Road in Gourock. It is a single-storey, three-bay structure with a lean-to addition on the west side and a modern conservatory on the east. The front is made of red sandstone with an ashlar finish, while the rear and sides are constructed from squared and snecked stugged rubble. The building features chamfered reveals, overhanging eaves with scalloped bargeboards, and exposed rafters, along with ashlar mullions.

The north elevation, or front, has a pilastered and corniced doorway at the center, which includes a deep-set panelled door and a plate glass fanlight. To the left is a canted window, and to the right is a corniced bipartite window. The outer bays have canted dormers with piended roofs, while the center features a round-arched leaded dormer.

On the south elevation, or rear, there is a small piend-roofed extension at the center and two piend-roofed dormers with replacement glazing. The east elevation is gabled and includes the modern single-storey conservatory. The west elevation is also gabled and has a single-storey lean-to addition. It features timber sash and case windows with plate glass glazing. The roof is slate with red ridge tiles, and there are two corniced gablehead stacks on the east and west sides, complete with octagonal cans. The eaves have a moulded gutter.

The interior was not seen in 1993. A rubble boundary wall is present at the front of the property.
