Description

Viewfield is a symmetrical terrace of four two-storey, two-bay houses, built in 1875, situated on sloping ground with basements at the rear. The exterior features variegated sandstone, squared and snecked stugged rubble with polished dressings. Notable architectural elements include a base course, channelled quoin strips, and an eaves band. The principal windows have stop-chamfered reveals, while the doorways are adorned with dentilled cornices and blocking courses that bear tablets. The centre block has overhanging bracketed eaves.

The south (front) elevation consists of eight bays, with two dominant houses at the centre. The elevations are mirrored around the centre. The centre bays are flanked by two small windows at the ground floor, with a datestone above. The centre bays also feature doorways and windows at the first floor, with a small additional window at ground level to the left of centre. The next bays have regular fenestration, with cornicing at the ground floor for houses 6 and 8. The outer bays have doorways, although the outer right does not have a cornice.

The east elevation has a doorway to the left and a window to the right. The west elevation features a small secondary doorway. The north (rear) elevation has recessed side wings of the end blocks, with houses at the centre showcasing three-storey canted windows in the outer bays and secondary doorways.

The windows are primarily timber sash and case, mostly with four-pane glazing, though some have been replaced. The roofs are covered with purple slate and have piended designs, along with corniced mutual stacks and moulded eaves gutters.

The interior was not seen in 1993. A low boundary wall with saddleback coping runs along the front of the property.
