Description

Later 19th century. Single storey and attic 3-bay cottage on steep terraced ground with Tudor details and small outhouse to S. Red sandstone, stugged ashlar front with polished dressings, squared and snecked stugged ashlar to rear and sides. Base course; stop-chamfered reveals; eaves band course; hoodmoulded windows with ashlar mullions;

plain bargeboards.

NE (FRONT) ELEVATION: roll-moulded doorway to centre accessed by steps with decorative cast-iron railings, angled cornice over shallow bracketted panel with diminutive nailhead carving to arrises, 2-leaf door and plate glass fanlight. Bipartite window to right; tripartite to left bay. 3 gabled, slate-hung timber dormers (2 bipartite).

SW (REAR) ELEVATION: secondary doorway; 2 bipartite gabled timber dormers.

NW ELEVATION: gabled.

SE ELEVATION: gabled with 2 windows. Small, rubble-built outhouse set into hillside with half-piend roof to SW.

Timber sash and case windows with plate glass glazing. Slate roof; 2 gablehead stacks to NW and SE. Moulded eaves gutter.

INTERIOR: not seen 1993.

TERRACING WALLS AND RAILINGS: tall rubble terracing and boundary walls with flat and semi-circular coping, decorative cast-iron railing to NE.
