Description
- Single storey asymmetrical Arts and Crafts villa with raised basement to rear on falling ground. Red sandstone, squared and snecked bull-faced rubble with polished dressings. Base course; ashlar mullions; half-timbered gableheads with plain bargeboards; overhanging eaves with exposed rafters.
SE (FRONT) ELEVATION: advanced gabled outer bays, canted window to left, paired windows to right. Centre bays under deep overhanging eaves, plain doorway with single and bipartite windows flanking. 2 semicircular leaded barrel dormers above.
NW (REAR) ELEVATION: 2-storey; advanced gabled outer bays with moulded cill course at 1st floor, to right with bipartite windows, to left with windows framing inscribed panel at ground floor level and corbelled canted oriel window with ogival roof at 1st floor above. Centre bay with modern porch in process of being built (1993) at ground floor, canted window with finialled piend roof at 1st floor above.
NW ELEVATION: secondary doorway (now blocked) to outer right; irregularly-spaced windows.
SW ELEVATION: some small window at ground floor level.
Timber sash and case windows, small-pane upper sashes, plate glass glazing to lower sashes. Rosemary tiles; 2 corniced and banded ashlar ridge stacks.
INTERIOR: impressive inglenook fireplace with timber carving and panelling stretching long side of drawing room incorporating painting above fireplace, painted plasterwork to upper half of wall. Timber fireplace to adjoining room.
