Description
Queensberry Cottage is a cottage dating from around 1815, which incorporates 17th and 18th century bolection mouldings and a crest from the former Kelhead (Kinmount) House. The building is single storey and was originally three bays, with a fourth bay added to the west in the mid to late 19th century. The roof pitch was likely lowered at that time, and the stacks were rebuilt. The cottage is constructed of rubble, with the original south-facing openings featuring plain bolection mouldings. A large and finely-carved Queensberry crest is positioned between the door and a window on the east side. The cottage has sash windows with narrow astragals that are deeply recessed within the bolection mouldings. There are end and off-centre axial stacks, and the roof is slate with a piended design over the addition. The north elevation has been altered.
