Description
Smithy Cottage is a cottage dating from the mid-18th century, with origins in the 17th century and later alterations from the 19th and 20th centuries. The building features rendered walls with painted stone dressings and a stone slate roof. It is two storeys high and has two bays. The right-hand entrance has a moulded surround with a segmental arched extrados and a 20th-century door. On the left side of the ground floor, there is a two-light flat faced mullioned window with a moulded surround, featuring sashes without glazing bars. The upper floor has two windows: the left has a moulded surround and sashes without glazing bars, while the right is a 20th-century window with a projecting sill. The left side has chamfered quoins and mid-18th century moulded eaves modillions. A ridge stack is located on the left-hand gable end. Inside, there is a segmental arched inglenook fireplace with 32 voussoirs and dressed stone jambs, along with a left-hand beehive oven.
