Description
4, 6 and 8 Church Street is a building that was originally one house but has been divided into three cottages. It dates back to 1689 and has had some alterations in the 20th century. The structure is made of limewashed rubble with painted stone dressings and features a slate roof. It has two storeys and five bays.
The entrance, located to the left of the centre, has a chamfered surround and a decorated lintel inscribed with "W T M." A continuous hoodmould extends over a two-light chamfered window, though the mullion is missing. There is a 20th-century entrance to No 8 and a four-light ovolo mullioned window with a King mullion, as well as a three-light ovolo mullioned window. To the right of this is a 20th-century entrance to No 4 and a 20th-century window.
On the upper floor, there are five windows: a three-light chamfered mullioned window, a single light window, a two-light double chamfered ovolo mullioned window, another three-light chamfered mullioned window, and a single light window. All doors are from around 1970, and all windows have 1970s casements or fixed lights. The building features a left-hand gable end and ridge stacks located to the right of centre. The interior is not accessible.
