Market Garden House, Saltcoats Castle, Saltcoats Road, Gullane

Market Garden House is a cottage located at Saltcoats Castle on Saltcoats Road in Gullane, likely dating from the 18th century and incorporating earlier materials.

The building is two stories high with a symmetrical three-bay design. It features rubble construction with droved ashlar dressings, which are chamfered at the first-floor window openings. On the west elevation, there is a square heraldic panel above the central doorway, displaying the initials PL (Patrick Levingtoun) and MF, along with a re-cut date of 1390, which should actually read 1590. The entrance has a boarded two-leaf door, and there are small square lights on the first floor, as well as larger windows flanking the doorway.

The east elevation has a large opening that has been blocked at ground level, with a square opening above it. Some timber sash and case window frames have been retained. The gables were formerly crowstepped and feature brick gable end stacks. The roof is pantiled, with a slate easing course at the eaves on the west side.

Inside, there is a hooded chimneypiece in the north gable and a stone chimneypiece in the south gable.
