Description
Wayside Thatch is a cottage, probably from the 18th century, constructed from local stone rubble and finished with a colourwashed exterior. It features a half hipped thatched roof and has a brick and stone chimney on the east gable. The building is two storeys high with two bays. The north elevation facing the road has a two-light early frame leaded casement window in the lower bay of the first bay, and above it, there are small pane two-light casements in the lower bay of the second bay. Between the bays, there is a part-glazed 20th-century door set in a plain opening. Both end gables also have leaded casements. There is a single-storey matching extension on the west gable. The interior is currently empty and not accessible, but from the visible windows, one can see a fireplace in the west gable with a cambered arch timber lintel and a winding timber stair, likely from the 18th century, along with a plain chamfered crossbeam.
