Description
Court Field is a cottage that dates mostly from the 18th century, with possible earlier fragments. It is constructed from local stone rubble and features a plain clay tile roof with simple gables and brick chimney stacks. The building has an 'L' plan and is two storeys high, with a three-bay west elevation. The exterior includes two-light leaded casement windows set under exposed timber lintels, with several window frames likely dating to the 18th century. The central entrance has a 20th-century French door, which is set beneath a large timber beam that has a moulded flat timber hood tenoned into it. Inside, the cottage features squared scroll stop chamfer beams, a fireplace with a plain late 18th-century stone surround, and a staircase that may have late 18th-century criss-cross balusters. There is also a recess that survives for a former circular stair.
