Description
Ruan Cottage is a cottage that likely dates from the 18th century, although it may be older. It is constructed of painted stone rubble and cob, topped with a grouted scantle slate roof and features a brick chimney over a large external stack on the right side of the south gable end. The cottage has a two-room plan and stands two storeys tall. The west front has two windows with very deep reveals, and the original doorway, which is now partly blocked, is located off centre to the left and features a 20th-century wooden casement. The flanking windows and the first-floor window are 16-pane, 2-light wooden casements from around 1800. There are also external 20th-century wooden false shutters. Inside, there is one original ceiling beam and an old roof structure that is likely from the 19th century.
