Skeldon, 37 Main Street, Kirkcowan

Skeldon is an earlier 19th century, two-storey, three-bay house that previously had a shop on the ground floor. It features bull-faced whinstone walling with painted raised rusticated angles and window margins, as well as a painted raised basecourse and a first-floor band course. The building has a cornice and a centrally placed pilastered and corniced doorpiece, which includes a panelled door with a fanlight above. To the left, there is a former shopfront that is glazed as bipartite, with a door to the right that is double-leaf and also has a fanlight; a bipartite window to the left features a timber mullion. The remaining windows are all single light, sash and case, with 12-pane glazing. There is a painted eaves band and eaves cornice, along with a flat-roofed extension to the porch at the rear. The house has tall rusticated corniced end stacks topped with octagonal cans and modern concrete tile roofs. Additionally, there are two skylights on the front. At the rear, there is a stone-built, slate-roofed outbuilding that was formerly a stable.
