Description

This is an early to earlier 19th century, two-storey, three-bay house forming a terraced pair with a neighbouring property. The house is constructed of painted rubble with raised cills. The bays are arranged in a 2-1 pattern. A door is centrally located and features a letterbox fanlight above a panelled door; windows are positioned above the door and in the flanking bays. A rear extension has been added. Sash and case windows with a 4-pane glazing pattern are present at ground level, and 12-pane windows at the first floor. The roof is covered with a modern material that matches the adjacent property. Chimneys are located at each end of the building.

The Blue House is part of a pair with the White House, and they together form a prominent and dignified feature in the centre of Kirkcowan.
