The Stepps, 33, 35 Main Street, Kirkcowan

The Stepps, located at 33 and 35 Main Street in Kirkcowan, is an early 19th century single-storey pair of cottages that have been combined into one property. Number 33 features a two-bay design, while number 35 has a three-bay layout. The exterior is constructed from coursed, snecked rubble walling with squared granite margins and quoins at the front. The entrance door for number 35 is situated in the center, while number 33 has its door on the right side. The cottages have single light windows, which are sash and case style with a 4-pane glazing pattern. The roof is made of graded slate and includes a sandstone ridge, with an end stack and skews located to the south. Additionally, there are two skylights and a single-storey wing at the rear.
