11 North Main Street, Wigtown

This late 18th century building at 11 North Main Street in Wigtown features a house with a shopfront on the ground floor and is in poor condition. It has a two-storey, three-bay elevation facing North Main Street, with a gable end towards New Road and a two-bay gabled wing. The exterior is finished in roughcast with raised angles and window margins. A deeply recessed doorway is flanked by enlarged shop windows, with the upper parts featuring coloured leaded glass. On the first floor, there are three sash and case windows with plate glass glazing, although some are boarded up. The steeply pitched slate roof has flat skews and skewputts on the left side, with coped end stacks, one of which has octagonal cans. The return elevation to New Road is irregular with two bays, and the windows are detailed similarly to those on the main elevation. There is also an Ionic columned porch with a pediment.
