Description

17 North Main Street in Wigtown is a terraced house built in the later 19th century. It has two storeys and an attic, featuring a three-bay design with a shopfront on the ground floor. The ground floor is made of bull-faced granite, while the first floor is constructed from risticated granite with smooth raised margins around the windows and bull-faced risticated quoins. The ground floor has modern plate-glass shop windows flanking the entrance door. On the first floor, there are three single light sash and case windows with 12-pane glazing. The building has a cornice above the ground floor, a band course at the eaves, an eaves cornice, and a blocking course. The roofs are slate, and there are two timber barge-boarded dormers with finials and plate glass sashes. The skews are saw-toothed, and there are corniced bull-faced granite stacks at each end. At the rear, there is a three-storey wing accessed via a pend, with a single-storey addition beyond. The entrance is bull-faced and splayed.
