Description
12 North Main Street in Wigtown is a house dating from the earlier to mid 19th century. It is a two-storey, three-bay building located on a corner site, with some later alterations. The exterior features painted rubble with rusticated, painted quoins and dressings, as well as base and lintel courses. The original door at the center is currently blocked. Large late 19th century shop windows have been added in the flanking bays. On the first floor, there are three regularly spaced plate glass sash and case windows. A door is located on the return elevation to the right, leading into a two-storey wing at the rear, which has two first-floor sash and case windows with 12-pane glazing. The building also has modern tiles, ashlar coped skews, and modern skylights.
