Description

15 North Main Street in Wigtown is an earlier 19th-century, two-storey, three-bay house located in a terraced street. The ground floor features a late 19th-century shop. The building is constructed of rubble whinstone, which is painted at the ground level, and has red sandstone ashlar dressings, including the base, lintel, cill, and eaves courses. The main door is centrally located and is flanked by shop windows, with a secondary door to the flat above positioned to the outer right. There are three evenly spaced windows on the first floor, which have plate glass glazing. The roof is covered with purple slates and has modern dormers at both the front and rear, which are considered regrettable. The building features an ashlar-coped skew to the right with a scroll skewputt. At the rear, there is a two-storey wing that also has a slate roof.
