29 Balbirnie Street, Markinch

29 Balbirnie Street in Markinch is a house dating from the earlier to mid 19th century, with some later alterations. It is a two-storey, rectangular-plan building that has been modified from its original two-storey design and is part of an irregular terrace to the east. The exterior features squared and snecked sandstone along with dry-dash, and it has stone cills and a partial eaves course.

On the northeast elevation, there is a modern part-glazed timber door with windows on either side, a window in a bay to the left, and a panelled timber door with a letterbox fanlight further left. The first floor has four windows. The west elevation has a single window on the outer right at the first floor.

The first-floor windows feature a 12-pane and plate glass glazing pattern in timber sash and case style, while modern top-opening windows are found elsewhere. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are coped ashlar stacks with cans and ashlar coped skews.

The property is enclosed by a semicircular-coped rubble boundary wall.
