Description
39 Graham Place in Stromness is a house dating from the earlier to mid 19th century. It is a two-storey, three-bay rectangular building that is nearly symmetrical and built on rising ground to the west. The exterior is harled, with painted concrete cills on the windows, and the first-floor windows are positioned close to the eaves.
On the west (principal) elevation, there is a part-glazed timber panelled door with a fanlight located in the central bay at ground level, with a window above it on the first floor. To the right, there is a large window at ground level and a corresponding window above on the first floor. The left bay features a window on each floor.
The south (side) elevation has a tall single bay gabled wall that rises from street level. There is a window to the left at ground level, with a gablehead stack above.
The windows are 4-pane timber sash and case. The roof is covered with grey slate, featuring a stone ridge and concrete skews. The gablehead stacks to the north and south have pronounced, cantilevered cornices, and the property has uPVC rainwater goods.
The interior was not seen in 1997.
