41 Graham Place, Stromness

41 Graham Place in Stromness is a late 18th to early 19th century cottage, with later alterations and additions. It is a single storey and attic structure with a symmetrical three-bay rectangular plan, built on ground that rises steeply to the west. The exterior is harled with an eaves course.

On the north (principal) elevation, there is a deep-set timber panelled door located in the central bay, with a window in each of the flanking bays. The south (rear) elevation features a regular four-bay layout, including a lean-to addition with a corrugated-iron roof on the outer right. There is a part-glazed timber door at ground level in the bay to the left of centre, a window at ground level with a gabletted dormer breaking the eaves in the outer left bay, another window at ground level in the bay to the right of centre, and a window at ground level with a dormer window breaking the eaves in the outer right bay.

The west (side) elevation has a blank gabled wall with a gablehead stack above. The east (side) elevation includes an attic window to the right of the gable, with a gablehead stack above.

The cottage features 2-, 4-, and 6-pane timber sash and case windows, a rooflight between the dormers at the rear, a grey slate roof with a slate ridge, cement skews, and corniced gablehead stacks to the east and west. The rainwater goods are predominantly cast-iron. The interior was not seen in 1997.
