8 North End Road, Stromness

8 North End Road in Stromness is a cottage that likely dates back to the early 19th century, with some later alterations and additions. It is a single-storey building, though it rises to two storeys at the rear, featuring a symmetrical T-plan design and built on sloping ground that falls to the east. The exterior is finished with modern dry-dash render.

On the west (principal) elevation, there is a part-glazed timber panelled door located in the central bay, with a window on either side. The east (rear) elevation includes a window on each floor of a two-storey lean-to addition in the center, and a window at the first floor in the left return. There is also a modern small-pane door at ground level in the left bay, with a window above it on the first floor.

The north and south (side) elevations are blank, featuring wide gablehead stacks. The cottage has modern timber-framed windows with top-hung upper lights, a roof covered with modern asbestos tiles, a stone ridge, harled corniced gablehead stacks, replacement concrete skews, and uPVC rainwater goods.

The interior was not seen during the last inspection in 1997.
