30 The Green, Swinton

30 The Green in Swinton is a cottage built in the later 18th century, with additions and alterations made in the mid to later 19th century. It is a two-storey structure with a first floor that breaks the eaves, featuring three bays and forming part of a terrace that faces the green. The exterior is finished in painted harl with lightly droved red sandstone margins. It has timber bargeboards on the finialed gables that break the eaves, supported by king-posts and tie beams, and there are projecting cills at the ground level.

On the southwest (entrance) elevation, there is a modern timber panelled door that is offset to the right of centre, accompanied by a letterbox fanlight and a gabled window that breaks the eaves above. The ground floor has single windows in the flanking bays, with additional single windows breaking the eaves above.

The northeast (rear) elevation was not visible in 1998. The cottage features 4-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows, a grey slate roof with raised skews, and replacement rainwater goods. It has brick stacks at the ridge and apex on the northwest and southeast sides, topped with circular cans. The interior was also not seen in 1998.
